In a remarkable achievement, Britain has overtaken Germany, China, and India to secure the position of the second most attractive country for investment globally, trailing only the United States. This milestone, revealed in PwC’s annual UK CEO survey, highlights a growing global confidence in Britain as a hub for business and investment. For UK property investors, this shift signals significant opportunities ahead.
The PwC survey, which polled 4,701 CEOs across 109 countries, revealed that 14% of global business leaders now consider the UK the most attractive destination for international investment. This marks a climb from the fourth spot last year and underscores the nation's resilience amidst global economic instability. The United States continues to hold the top position with 30% of CEOs favouring it, followed by Germany (12%), China (9%), and India (7%).
Marco Amitrano, senior partner of PwC UK, described the findings as “a vote of confidence in the UK as a place for business and investment.” He pointed to the UK’s relative stability, strong technology sector, and capacity to adapt as key factors driving this positive perception.
The survey also showed a significant boost in optimism among UK CEOs, with 61% expecting economic growth in the coming year, up from just 39% in 2023. This optimism is bolstered by the UK’s stability and reputation in key industries, including technology and artificial intelligence.
For property investors, this growing confidence in the UK economy is a promising indicator. Increased international investment and economic stability can lead to higher demand for both residential and commercial properties, driving capital growth and rental yields across the country.
Keith Egan, Managing Director of Magnate Assets, commented:
“This latest PwC survey reinforces the UK’s position as a global powerhouse for investment. For property investors, this is an exciting time to explore opportunities in the UK market. The combination of international confidence, economic growth, and innovation makes this an ideal environment for both new and seasoned investors to secure strong returns. As the UK continues to attract global attention, property investment here is poised to benefit significantly in the years ahead.”
As Britain strengthens its global investment appeal, property investors have a unique opportunity to leverage these positive trends. Whether through high-yield rental properties or long-term capital growth, the UK’s property market is well-positioned to deliver robust returns in 2025 and beyond.
